Accident? Help with the costs your health plan leaves behind
Even with a good ACA plan, an accident can mean a high deductible and other out-of-pocket costs. Accident Medical Expense coverage, offered through Allstate Health Solutions, helps pay them.

What is it and what does it help pay?
Accident-related medical costs
Helps pay health care costs related to a covered injury – up to the benefit amount you select.
Ambulance, therapy, equipment
According to Allstate Health Solutions’ materials, the plan includes benefits for ground ambulance, physical medicine (therapy) and durable medical equipment, with treatment-specific limits.
Accidental death & dismemberment
The plan also includes accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) benefits.
No network restrictions
No network restrictions and no waiting period, according to Allstate Health Solutions’ website.
How does it work with an ACA plan?
Your health plan pays first
After an accident, your bills go to your primary health insurance first (e.g. a HealthCare.gov or Get Covered Illinois plan).
Then the accident plan
Accident Medical Expense is designed to help offset the out-of-pocket costs remaining after your primary coverage – such as your deductible and coinsurance.
Less out of pocket
The result: lower out-of-pocket costs after an accident, within your plan’s limits.
Example
Your child breaks an arm at soccer practice. The ER visit, X-ray and cast go to your ACA plan first, which applies your deductible. Then you file a claim with your Accident Medical Expense plan, which helps pay the remaining accident-related costs – up to your selected benefit amount.

Optional add-ons
In some states, optional riders can be added, such as a lump-sum benefit for a first-ever cancer diagnosis, heart attack or stroke, or a benefit for hospital admission due to sickness. Availability varies by state – we’ll check for you.
Questions & answers
Is this health insurance?
No. It is limited-benefit supplemental coverage. It doesn’t replace an ACA health plan – it works best alongside one.
Does it cover illness?
Accident Medical Expense is for accident-related costs. Sickness not caused by a covered accident is not covered (other than through any optional riders).
Can I have it without health insurance?
Allstate Health Solutions says its accident coverage works with or without health insurance. It provides the most value paired with an ACA plan.
What does it cost and pay?
It depends on the benefit level, age and state. We’ll prepare a free quote for you.
